Submissions
Submissions should be submitted electronically to dukesexjournal@gmail.com by our Fall deadline date. Late submissions will be accepted no later than through October 2011. Accepted papers will be sent out for a blind editorial evaluation by no less than three staff editors, plus the Copy Editor. Obtaining appropriate permission for any quoted or reprinted material is the responsibility of the author. Submission of a paper implies commitment to publication in the journal, if selected. Simultaneous submissions are not permitted; previously published works are not accepted. Authors in doubt about what constitutes prior publication should consult the Editor, Ilka Felsen, at ilka.felsen@gmail.com.
Submission Guidelines:
1. All submitted papers must include an abstract of no more than 200 words.
2. All submissions must be submitted via Microsoft Word attachment to dukesexjournal@gmail.com.
3. Submissions must include the author’s name (on all pages of the work), email, year and university, as well as the title, word count, and “discipline” of the submission (discipline e.g. “biology,” “history,” “american studies”).
4. Papers must include a works-cited page referencing all cited material (no footnotes please).
5. Submission length should generally fall between 1,000 and 5,000 words.

Unzipped, the Duke Journal of Gender and Sexuality, is now accepting artworks for our inaugural issue. Unzipped is an interdisciplinary publication featuring formal work in the field of gender and sexuality, such as studies and essays. We accept art and photography work as well as written submissions.
